What we collect and why
When you contact us or ask for a quote
Our contact form asks for your name, email address, phone number (optional), a subject and your message. If you call or email us, we receive the details you give us. We use this information to reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote and, if you go ahead, to arrange and carry out the work.
Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
When you browse the website
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they use, so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, roughly where you are (town or country level), your device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. It does not tell us who you are.
Like every website, our hosting server keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the time of the request) to keep the site secure and working. Our security tools also record the IP address of failed attempts to log in to the website’s admin area.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. This website uses:
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics, names starting
_ga): to count visits and see how the site is used. These last up to 2 years. - Essential cookies: set by WordPress and our security and caching tools to make the site work, for example when the site’s administrators log in.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with services that help us run the business and the website:
- our website hosting provider (UK), which stores the site and the enquiries sent through it;
- our email provider, which delivers the messages you send us;
- Google, which provides Google Analytics (Google may process data outside the UK under its own safeguards; see policies.google.com/privacy);
- Web Level Up Ltd, which builds and maintains this website for us;
- professional advisers such as our accountant, and authorities where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to respond and follow up. If you become a customer, we keep the records of your job and any invoices for as long as the law requires (for tax purposes this is normally 6 years). Google Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
- ask us to transfer it to you or another organisation.
To use any of these rights, email info@viskonti.co.uk. We will reply within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
